Identity system update
Written by: Skog

Addressed to: Everyone
The general goal of this update is to make all mechanics more contestable and take a bit longer to complete. We've also done away with a few things that felt bad on all sides, such as player corpse gating, and added offseasons to grant a break in pace. Please note that while complete parity isn't entirely feasible, we do want these systems to be fun.
This will probably be the last major update for awhile, but expect to see minor tweaks in regular changelogs.
[Everyone]
- New denizen modifier: crit_resistant. This will make critical hits apply x2, x3, x4, x5, x6 damage as opposed to x2, x4, x8, x16, x32.
- New command: SABOTAGE <creature corpse> (For use with Bloodloch's identity system). Requires a valid fire source.
- New helpfile: HELP IDENTITY. This exists to provide a level of transparency. In general, if something is not working as described there, please BUG it. Bloodloch's system will mostly be excluded from this file for a small period to give them time to get a handle on it. If I missed anything important, please feel free to use the HELPEDIT system, or let me know.
[Bloodloch]
- New syntax: FOUNDRY. Have fun. The full system will be released after the city has time to amass some resources and catch up.
- Added several more monster types that will appear in Tarblack.
- Monster appearances and deaths will now be logged in Bloodloch's city logs.
- Monster appearances will now be plane-wide messages, as opposed to organizational messages only seen by the city. Everyone will know what you're up to!
[Duiran]
- Small and large spore nexuses will now be correctly labeled as such.
- Reduced the health of small spore nexuses to 1000, down from 3000.
- Increased the health of large spore nexuses to 7000, up from 3000.
- Spore nexuses will no longer 'grow' and will simply spawn with their health values.
- Slightly increased the health of lashers.
- Lashers are now crit_resistant.
- Nexuses are now invincible for thirty seconds after the first time they are attacked.
- Resistance will now be applied at x3 multipliers, as opposed to x2. So a nexus at 1000 hp will grow to 3000 hp after one is destroyed. Note this continues until 4 hours have passed.
- Abducting villagers will now take longer, and there is now a chance that a villager will be weakened on attack, as opposed to a guarantee.
- Duiran will now have a lore-appropriate offseason from their system in Spring. During this time, Totemic Commune will be disabled, and existing spore nexuses will be invincible.
- You may no longer heal spore nexuses beyond their base health. In other words, if a small nexus has a resistance health of 3000, you may only heal it to 1000. The only way for a spore nexus to be healed beyond the base amount is for another nexus to be destroyed.
[Enorian]
- Increased the difficulty in chopping trees down, and increased the channel duration of LUMBERJACK FELL.
- Significantly increased the corpses required to destroy a Dejaani shrine to 50, up from 20.
- Player corpses are no longer required to destroy Dejaani shrines.
- Preservers are now crit_resistant, as opposed to crit_immune.
- Shrines will now be impervious to abjuring for thirty seconds after the first time they are abjured.
- Resistance will now be applied at x3 multipliers, as opposed to x2. So a shrine that requires 50 corpses will now require 150 corpses after one is destroyed. Note this continues to scale until 4 hours have passed.
- Enorian will now have a lore-appropriate offseason from their system in Summer. During this time, acolytes will not give new trees, crusades cannot be hosted, and you cannot get a new torch. Shrines will be invincible.
- You may not heal a shrine beyond its base value of abjures, even if it has extremely high resistance. The only way for a shrine to be restored beyond the base value and gain more resistance is for a different one to be destroyed.
- Preservers will no longer drop gold.
[Spinesreach]
- Spinesreach will now be notified via an alarm when Duiran attempts to kidnap from a protected territory of Spinesreach. This is a temporary patch put in place until we can finish up Spinesreach's system.
- Spireans may now LIBERATE villagers, so long as there are no Duirani present.
Please bear with us if there are any bugs!
