20.10.2 Desolation

Situated north of the northern most point of the continent of Sapience, beyond treacherous ice floes and a dark, semi frozen body of water, lies a mountainous volcanic area that is so stark and uninhabitable it is simply dubbed "Desolation" by the inhabitants of the plateau.  

Mines have been carved into the steamy ash-encrusted mountain by the Grecht in search of bauxite and basalt, as well as other minerals that can fetch a sovereign.  Wads of raw firesilk, spun by lava spiders, can also be found in the mines.  It is rumored that the lava spider can withstand higher temperatures than any other known creature and can live in the bowels of a volcano.
