4.13.12 Chaos Lord
The Chaos Plane, or simply Chaos, is a term for the fragmented Chaos Realms which envelop the whole of the planar spiral. Collectively, these Chaos Realms form a boundary between existence and the unrealized potentiality of the cosmos beyond - in short, distinguishing existence from nonexistence. Though differences in physics, ontology, and culture can vary greatly between Realms of Chaos, all Realms of Chaos are composed of the same, infinitesimally small 'individuals' - living, conscious bits of matter which seek to devour, grow, and gain control over their surroundings, becoming entities in and of themselves. The most powerful of themes gain the capability of naming themselves, and the mightiest among them become Chaos Lords, whose might extends to ruling over the lesser inhabitants of their realm. While many native Chaos entities are drawn by a hunger for mortal experience as a source of stability and power - often extending to making bargains with mortals in order to attain it - this thirst also flows in the opposite direction. Many mortals through the ages have held a fascination for Chaos and its myriad mysteries bordering on reverence and worship, and seeking power from the forbidden, esoteric dark places is a path trod by all Indorani and Oneiromancer professionals. Yet some are not content to command only the scraps of the Court in battle - some seek a greater apotheosis as not only an associate or dealmaker with the Courts, but a Lord of Chaos in their own right. The first mortal adventurer to transcend their fragile shell and embrace the powers of a Chaos Lord after defeating Bagad, the Warlord of Chaos was Rhyot Vyktaire - formerly known to the world as Zsadist. While in this fell form, the Chaos Lord is uniquely capable of wielding entropy and twisting reality to arrange matters in their favour. Chaos entities respond easily to their commands, shock and fever await those who stand against them, and anomalies form in their wake. Adopting the form itself is a painful process that forces the body to expand and stretch beyond its typical confines, contorting into visceral, impossible configurations until what remains is unrecognisable as anything but a monstrosity of pure Chaos: to those so inclined, a perfect form.
