18.6.2.2 Assimilation contention
At midnight of every Aetolian day during the Orrery's active period, a single globe of warring essence will appear somewhere within the valley of Scidve. The essence within is a mix of shadow and spirit, each trying to win over the other. Holding the globe anywhere in the valley of Scidve or the observatory will slowly influence it towards the element of your tether. You can check the influence progress of the globe by probing it. Once the influence level reaches 100%, the element within the globe will snap to your tether. If thirty minutes pass since midnight and the globe is still in play, it will snap to whichever tether holds the most influence progress over it. Once the globe has snapped to a tether, you can go to the observatory and INFUSE ORRERY WITH <essence> to gain an attunement point for that tether. If forty minutes pass since midnight and the globe is still in play, it will disappear entirely without either side gaining a point. Mechanics of the globe ---------------------- + It will reset to the valley of Scidve if taken out of it. + If the bearer dies, it will reset to a random room in the valley of Scidve. + If the bearer attempts to give it away, drop it, or put it inside something, it will reset to a random room in the valley of Scidve. + Holding a globe will reduce your celerity to the base movement rate. + It will be dropped if you use any type of movement that is non-normal (such as teleporting). + Going incorporeal (blackwind etc), into phase, or burrowing will cause the bearer to drop it. + Whenever the globe is forced to reset in any of the above ways, it will lose a small amount of influence from whichever tether was holding it. PK Rules -------- + The entire area of the valley of Scidve is flagged as open PK during the time the globe is active for. + At all other times, only the observatory remains open PK as normal.
